What is a Working Group?
Working groups are collectives—groups of people working together towards a common goal while sharing responsibilities and decisions equally. They function autonomously with funding and programming support as needed from Carleton PIRG. Together with our volunteers, working groups are the heart of Carleton PIRG
2024 Working Group applications will be open January 8 - January 26 further down on this page.
Become a working group
Are you trying to generate more awareness around a specific issue or campaign? In an existing collective looking for more support?
Or are you an existing working group looking to re-apply for funding and programming support?
New and existing working groups can fill out applications here and in our office starting January 8 and ending January 26, 2024. For more questions and to submit applications, email voc@opirgcarleton.org
How to Start a Working Group
Working groups can be an existing collective/initiative or a brand new one. To become a Carleton PIRG Working group you must apply during our open application period in order to receive funding. Additionally, every OPIRG Carleton - Working Group is expected to abide by our anti-oppression & decolonization, safe(r) space, and conflict resolution policies and participate in anti-oppression and transformative justice trainings.
Current Working Groups
Every year, current Working Groups re-apply and we accept and fund new groups. Get in touch with our current Working Groups and find out how you can get involved!
Past Working Groups
Many of Carleton PIRG’s successes and community outreach campaigns are made possible through the passion, innovation, creativity and hard work of our past working groups. See the full list of past OPIRG Carleton working groups from 1986 - 2021.
